Post Treatment Care Guidelines

Proper post-treatment care is essential for minimizing side effects, promoting healing, and maximizing the effectiveness of your laser hair removal treatments. Your clinic will provide specific instructions, but here are general guidelines to follow:

Immediate Post-Treatment (First 24-48 Hours):

Cool and Soothe the Skin:

Cold Compresses/Ice Packs: Immediately after the session, and for several hours afterward, apply a cold compress or ice pack (wrapped in a clean cloth) to the treated area. This helps to reduce redness, swelling, and discomfort. Apply for 10-15 minutes at a time, with breaks.

Soothing Gels/Creams: Your technician might recommend or provide a soothing gel, such as pure aloe vera gel (ensure it's free of alcohol and fragrances), or a mild hydrocortisone cream. These help calm irritation and promote healing.

Avoid Heat:

Hot Showers/Baths: Stick to lukewarm or cool showers. Avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, steam rooms, and Jacuzzis for at least 24-48 hours. Excessive heat can further irritate the treated skin.

Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous exercise or any activity that causes excessive sweating for 24-48 hours. Sweating can irritate follicles and increase the risk of infection.

Wear Loose Clothing:

Opt for loose-fitting, soft, and breathable clothing (like cotton) over the treated areas. This prevents friction and irritation on sensitive skin.

Keep the Area Clean:

Gently cleanse the treated area with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat the area dry gently with a soft towel; do not rub.

Avoid Makeup and Products:

If your face was treated, avoid applying makeup for at least 24-48 hours.

Avoid any lotions, creams, perfumes, deodorants (if treating underarms), or other topical products that contain fragrances, alcohol, or harsh chemicals for at least 48 hours. These can irritate the sensitive skin.

Ongoing Post-Treatment (Between Sessions):

Strict Sun Protection:

This is the most critical post-treatment guideline.
